Psychotherapy is a type of treatment that can help individuals experiencing a wide array of mental health conditions and emotional challenges through dialogue, reflections, practice exercises, and interaction. Psychotherapy works to not only help alleviate distressing symptoms, but can also help identify the root causes of one’s condition or experiences, so a person can function better and have enhanced emotional well-being, and healing.

During psychotherapy, individuals learn about their specific issues and how thoughts, emotions and behaviors affect one's moods. Individuals also gain insight into how societal, community, and family systems play a significant role in their wellbeing, in addition to individual factors. Psychotherapy can help a person learn how to take control of their life and respond to challenging situations with greater understanding and healthy coping skills.
